PROVO — A Springville man continues to fight charges that he sexually assaulted a woman he met through LDSMingles.com, a Web site for LDS singles.

Kent Parkinson, 25, waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week before 4th District Judge Samuel D. McVey. Parkinson is scheduled to be back July 26 to enter a plea.

"We decided we have the evidence we need to proceed," said Mike Esplin, his defense attorney.

A preliminary hearing is held to determine if there is sufficient cause to proceed with a case. Once waived, it can never be requested again for that case.

Parkinson has been charged with two second-degree felonies of forcible sex abuse.

He is accused of chatting on the Internet with a woman four different times via the LDSMingles.com. Parkinson allegedly persuaded her to come to his house and watch a movie. Once she was there, he allegedly started kissing her, touching her and trying to take off her shirt.

The woman told police she repeatedly told Parkinson she objected to his advances and pushed him away, according to court documents.

Eventually, Parkinson let her go and she went to the police.
