Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson has hired a new planning director.
Alexander Ikefuna, former director of the Savannah, Ga., Department of Community Development, will take over the city's planning department.
Ikefuna will fill the spot vacated by Louis Zunguze, who was promoted to community development director.
The mayor's office made the announcement Tuesday.
"Mr. Ikefuna has extensive education and experience in the field of urban planning," Anderson said in a press statement. "Through his work he has demonstrated a commitment to the same smart growth principles we have sought to implement in Salt Lake City."
