Governor's objectives

• Grow the state's existing strengths

• Grow value-added activities, which are tied to locally produced intellectual property, then protect that property

• Grow and attract entrepreneurial and management talent

• Ensure a competitive business environment

Governor's strategy

• Tax reform/simplification

• Better business facilitation

• Industry cluster development

• Education (helping Utah's students make a "seamless transition" from K-12 to higher education)

• Growing the state's capital and advisory services (more early-stage development money and people to help/advise businesses grow from small to medium to large)

• Image building by aggressively promoting Utah
