Total budget is $88 million: Money comes from the federal and state governments, and local taxes. The 2004-2005 school year budget was $90 million. One reason for the decrease is less federal grant money.

Capital projects are up $1.6 million: $124,000 for conversion of Farrer Middle School to an elementary (it will retain the Farrer name); $994,000 to add four classrooms at Centennial Middle School; $999,000 to add four classrooms and rework power supply at Dixon Middle School; $1.4 million (up 30 percent) for middle school maintenance.

$49.7 million for employee salaries: A 1.5 percent increase in steps and lanes (longevity and increased education or certification); 0.5 percent cost of living increase.

$18.1 million for employee benefits: medical insurance, contributions to the Utah Retirement System, medical insurance premiums for early retirement, post-retirement benefits.
