SPANISH FORK President Gordon B. Hinckley, leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Olafur Ragnar Grimmson, president of Iceland, will be the featured guests at the 150th anniversary of Icelandic Association's Icelandic days.
President Hinckley will rededicate the Icelandic Memorial Monument a lighthouse Saturday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at 400 S. 800 East. Other festivities included in Icelandic days are listed below. Thursday, June 23 Western barbecue, 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 167 W. Center.
Friday, June 24 cultural and historical presentations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1006 E. 200 South; gala dinner, 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center
Saturday, June 25 picnic in the park from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the city park at Center and Main streets; rededication of the Icelandic Memorial Monument, 3 p.m., 400 S. 800 East.
Sunday, June 26 devotional, 7 p.m., at 1006 E. 200 South, featuring Ray and Janette Hales Beckham. Ray Beckman is the first counselor to the president of the Provo LDS Temple. Janette Beckham is the former general president of the Young Women organization of the LDS Church.
