Panel OKs tailings $$

Senators OK $28 million for Moab cleanup work

• $2.5 million to implement the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program.

• $2 million to the Utah Center for Ultra-Clean Coal Utilization at the University of Utah to address issues related to the development of carbon capture and sequestration technologies that can be retrofitted to existing coal fired plants, particularly those in the Western states.

• $9.4 million to the Bureau of Reclamation to operate and maintain dams and other water projects at Weber Basin, Hyrum, Newton, Moon Lake, Provo River, Scofield, Ogden River and Strawberry Valley.

• $1 million for the Brigham City Wind Energy Project to help the city harness the wind energy potential at the mouth of Sardine Canyon, and another $500,000 to fund ongoing research at Utah on the economic impact of wind power and other renewable energy sources.
