Talk to some singers about touring, and you'll hear a litany of complaints about long hours, living out of a suitcase and other irksome things about life on the road.
Reba McEntire doesn't see it that way, though.
"I don't think it's bad at all. I love my job. I love to travel. I'm a gypsy at heart," the singer-actress says.
The gypsy in McEntire is being satisfied this summer as she's on the road with Brad Paisley and Terri Clark (they played at West Valley's USANA Amphitheater earlier this week).
She also plans to promote a clothing line in partnership with the department store Dillard's. Oh, and did we mention the construction work on her home-away-from-Nashville in Los Angeles? "I guess my boat's pretty well loaded right now," she says in her Oklahoma drawl.
Her self-titled television show on the WB is on hiatus until shooting for a fifth season begins in August. So she's on the road until then figuratively speaking. Unlike many of her counterparts, McEntire won't be on a bus. She's been leasing a plane since she became pregnant with her son Shelby, now 15.
"The roads were too rough," she said.
