Nate Jaqua scored his first career hat trick Saturday in Chicago to lead the Fire past Chivas USA 5-2 and spoil coach Hans Westerhof's Major League Soccer debut.

Jaqua gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the second minute on an assist from Thiago, then added insurance goals in the 60th and 73rd minutes.

Chivas USA held a 2-1 lead at the half. Antonio Martinez sent a long ball into the corner of the net in the fifth minute, and defender Ezra Hendrickson scored on a header off a corner kick in the 42nd minute.

In the 53rd minute, Chicago's Jesse Marsch headed the ball into an open net, tying the game at 2. Four minutes later, the Fire took the lead for good when Ivan Guerrero scored past Chivas goalie Martin Zuniga.

WIZARDS 1, REVOLUTION 1: At Foxboro, Mass., New England extended its franchise-best start with a tie against Kansas City. Khano Smith scored his first goal of the season for the Revolution (6-0-4), while Sasha Victorine scored for Kansas City (4-2-5).

D.C. UNITED 0, EARTHQUAKES 0: At San Jose, Calif., D.C. United and the Earthquakes played to a scoreless tie. The goal-scoring woes continued for each team.
