CORVALLIS, Ore. Police have received more than 30 calls regarding a green van that may be linked to the disappearance of Brigham Young University coed Brooke Wilberger.
One year ago when the 19-year-old vanished from a Corvallis apartment complex, a man who identified himself as Brian called 911 from his cell phone to report an erratically driven green minivan in the mid-Willamette Valley area. The connection was lost before the call was completed, said police Capt. Ron Noble.
On Tuesday, Noble asked the public to help with any information regarding the caller.
As of Wednesday evening, police had received just over 30 calls regarding the 1997 green Dodge Caravan on the tip line, mainly from people who had seen a van matching the description recently.
"At this time, we're not looking for a green van," Noble said.
"What we want to do is find out whether the van we know about was in a certain area," Noble said. "We want to know whether or not our guy with a green van is possibly related to Brooke."
Police are also hoping to hear from the man named Brian.
"Unless Brian calls the police on a daily basis, he should remember making this call," Noble said.
The man police have connected with the green minivan has been on the investigators' radar for about six months. He is one of two current "persons of interest," Noble said.
Wilberger, a student at BYU, had been staying with her sister at the Corvallis apartment complex she managed. On May 24, the day she disappeared, Wilberger had been cleaning the light fixtures outside the complex, near Oregon State University. Among the only clues investigators found were Wilberger's flip flops and a pail of water.
