CLEARFIELD — The 16-year-old boy who was stabbed Wednesday is still in critical condition at McKay-Dee Hospital.

But he isn't getting worse, said Greg Krusi, Clearfield assistant police chief.

After dropping his younger brother at a friend's house Wednesday, the 16-year-old saw two boys at Kiwanis Park who had beaten up the younger brother about a month ago, Krusi said.

The 16-year-old confronted the other boys, ages 14 and 15. When the confrontation turned into an argument, the 14-year-old allegedly stabbed the 16-year-old in the left side of his chest, puncturing his lung, Krusi said.

The younger boys ran off, while the 16-year-old went to find his brother and told him what happened. He then collapsed on a nearby lawn.

Since the victim's younger brother knew the teens, he gave police a description, Krusi said. Two boys were later found across the park and were arrested.

Both were booked into the Farmington Bay Youth Correctional Facility. The 14-year-old was booked on investigation of attempted homicide. The 15-year-old was booked on investigation of destroying evidence, Krusi said, for disposing of the folding knife allegedly used in the stabbing.

Both have had run-ins with Clearfield police in the past, Krusi said.
