SPRINGVILLE Will an earthquake strike Utah County?
Springville city emergency personnel aren't discounting the possibility as they prepare for a mock earthquake drill Wednesday at Springville High School.
A known fault runs along the base of the Wasatch Mountains in that area.
The drill is for the Community Emergency Response Team or CERT a national program that trains volunteers to lend a hand during emergencies.
CERT members free up trained emergency personnel by taking care of traffic control, triage and patient care. They also assist in coordinating rescue and other emergency services.
The fake quake will be at 6 p.m. The drill will run until 8:30 p.m. CERT volunteers and more than 100 residents are expected to participate.
