The Bureau of Land Management is looking for information related to a recent vandalism at a rock art site near St. George.
The BLM is offering $500 for information that leads to a conviction. The vandalism occurred at Land Hill, a site that overlooks the Santa Clara River, between May 1 and 15.
David Boyd, BLM public affairs specialist, said a man who regularly hikes the area noticed the damage.
"He was out there on the first and didn't see anything (that would identify the vandals,)" Boyd said.
The vandalism was reported to BLM on May 16.
Perpetrators scratched names and obscene words throughout the site and littered the area with burned pallets and beer cans. Names etched into the rocks include: Linzy B, Nikki, NW, Sean, Jen, KMK and West Side G Block Kryp.
"In terms of actual vandalism, we're looking at what we can do, if we can do anything," Boyd said about cleaning up the site. "We probably won't be able to completely restore it."
The Land Hill area contains a high concentration of rock art pieces, some of which are more than 4,000 years old.
