A South Jordan church building received damage after it was set on fire early Sunday morning.
Just after 4:30 a.m., an alarm signaled officers to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 2770 W. 11800 South.
"Upon arrival, we found the west side entrance doors broken out and flames inside," said Matt Evans, South Jordan fire spokesman.
The fire was quickly contained, and the cause was found to be "an accelerant device" that was thrown through the glass doors of the building.
Evans said there is no question it was intentional.
Damage to the building was estimated at $7,000.
