OREM Tipper Gore will speak in Orem next month at a Human Rights Campaign gala dinner that organizers hope will become an annual event.
The June 4 event is expected to raise more than $50,000 for HRC, said Michael Marriott, Utah's representative on the national HRC's board of directors.
R&B artist Oleta Adams will perform and HRC President Joe Solmonese is also speaking at the event, which will include a silent auction.
"We feel like it will be sold out," said Marriott, noting that 400 of the 600 $150 tickets had been sold.
HRC, a national gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy group, lobbies Congress; mobilizes grass-roots action; invests in political campaigns; and works on education and communication.
The event will be at Bruce Bastian's residence in Orem. For ticket information call 800-494-TIXS, or visit www.BoxOfficeTickets.com
