—Carlos Silva, Twins, threw a five-hitter in his second career complete game, helping Minnesota rout Milwaukee 7-1.

—Vernon Wells, Blue Jays, homered twice and drove in three runs to lead Toronto to a 6-1 victory over Washington.

SNAPPED

Texas left-hander Kenny Rogers had his scoreless innings streak snapped at 31 in the Rangers' 7-3 victory over Houston on Friday night. Rogers' streak ended when Brad Ausmus drove in Morgan Ensberg with a one-out single in the second inning. Rogers, who put together the third-longest streak in Rangers history, fell eight innings shy of his own club record set in 1995.

TRADE

Pat Borders, the 1992 World Series MVP who has been playing in the minor leagues, was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday for cash considerations. The 42-year old Borders hit .245 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season with Triple-A Nashville. The Brewers signed him to a minor league contract in November. During the 1992 World Series, Borders batted .450 with three doubles and a home run in Toronto's six-game victory over Atlanta. He spent the 2004 season with Seattle and Minnesota.

INTERLEAGUE

The first round of interleague games began Friday with the American League winning eight of the 14 games.
