Dr. Kristen Ries, clinical director of the Infectious Diseases and HIV Clinic at University Hospitals and Clinics, and C. Maggie Snyder, a registered nurse and physician assistant, have received national recognition as outstanding leaders in the field of HIV.

The HIV Leadership Awards, presented by TheBody.com, a popular online resource for HIV/AIDS information, honor providers, prevention workers and AIDS advocates in the United States. Ries was named an "Outstanding HIV Clinician" and Snyder an "Outstanding HIV Physician Assistant."

Last year, TheBody.com solicited nominations from its 600,000 monthly visitors for health-care providers who have made a difference in their lives. Professionals were also encouraged to nominate their colleagues. A panel of experts judged candidates from all 50 states.
