Salt Lake-based BSD Medical Corp. on Thursday said it has received a quarterly payment of nearly $5.3 million as proceeds from the earnout from the sale of TherMatrx Inc. for the first quarter.
BSD uses microwave thermal therapy to treat diseases. It sold TherMatrx to American Medical Systems in July 2004.
While earnout payments are not guaranteed, the payment is in line with the company's initial expectation that the total sale payment would be $30 million to $40 million, it said. Payments so far have topped $15.5 million. Three more payments are projected through February.
