CEDAR HILLS — A more permanent solution for families displaced by a landslide that pushed against their townhomes last month could be worked out early this week, Mayor Mike McGee said.

McGee and city staff met with representatives of Highland Homes, which built the homes after scraping away the toe of a two-decade-old landslide, and AMEC Earth and Environmental Inc. late Friday. Details of the plan will be revealed as early as Tuesday, after more testing, McGee said.

"It's in the planning stages. It's not fine-tuned," McGee said.

The plan will assist the four families that were immediately displaced and possibly others in the area, as well as determine how best to deal with the foothill landslide that is gradually buckling the back wall of the structure.

"A significant amount of testing still needs to be done," McGee said.

The testing will determine how best to remove the landslide that is stacking dirt up against the back of the condominium building. Meanwhile, the mountain of dirt moved "a fair amount" toward the structure overnight Friday, he said.
