"That first year, we didn't even know if anybody would come," Donaldson said.
This year, 80 students tried out to be models. The auditorium on show night was filled.
"I have one boy who told my daughter he didn't care what else happened as long as he made the football team and the "Fashion Frenzy," said Suzan Wright, PTSA President and this year's event chairwoman.
Wright believes the show is not only riding the national wave of interest in modesty but influencing choices made for local stores.
"This is just part of letting them (retailers) know that the silent majority cares," Julia Schwerdt said. Schwerdt represents Lindon City's Character Connection, a major sponsor. "We know we might not win the overall battle but at least we're taking a step."
Schwerdt said the teenagers who model each year an exercise that includes showing up for a couple of 6 a.m. rehearsals as well as after school rehearsals learn that people with intelligence, talent and personality don't need to dress to the extreme to be noticed.
