Mapleton water contaminated
Mayor Dean Allan said tests Saturday showed some of the city's drinking supply was contaminated with E. coli and other bacteria. The boil alert was scheduled to last three days, but could be lifted before Tuesday if the system is clean after it is flushed out by the city.
"We test the water almost daily, especially when you have these conditions," Allan said.
Police and firefighters went door to door, warning residents in the city's southwest quadrant not to drink their water.
Fliers were left for people who weren't home and churches were also asked to get the word out to people who hadn't heard about the water.
Allan didn't expect the contamination to lead to water shortages.
