Police say a martial arts teacher from Orem was arrested and booked into jail Wednesday for investigation of raping a 14-year-old former student.
Summit County sheriff's deputies arrested the 29-year-old man in Peoa when the girl's guardian saw him hiding under a bed and called for help. Deputies say he attempted to escape by crawling out a window with a loaded gun tucked in the back of his pants.
The two reportedly met in the martial arts class when the girl was 13. The girl told authorities they had a sexual relationship, investigators said.
The man also was arrested for investigation of aggravated burglary and possessing a weapon illegally
Authorities said he was a martial arts instructor at a private studio his father owns. He is being held in the Summit County Jail.
