Westminster College, 1840 S. 1300 East, will present a pottery demonstration by Felipe Ortega, master potter in the Jicarilla Apache tradition, on Wednesday, noon-1 p.m., in the Eccles Ceramic Center. Ortega, and other Jicarilla potters, use micaceous clay in culinary pottery production. The event is free and open to the public, which is encouraged to bring lunch.
The Salt Lake City's public art program announces a transitional public art project for downtown, funded by the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City. The project, "Flying Objects," will commission new, temporary sculptures by Utah artists to be placed in various locations in the downtown area for two to three years. Artists interested in being considered for "Flying Objects" should contact the Salt Lake City Arts Council at 596-5000. Deadline for model submission is June 3.
