The annual "Big Daddy" Roth's Rat Fink Reunion will be held in Manti, next Thursday through May 14, in honor of artist/car designer Ed Roth.
Roth was famous for designing and building hot rod cars and for creating the cartoon characters Beatnik Bandit and Rat Fink. He moved to Manti from California in 1987 and died there in 2001 at the age of 69.
The reunion will be held in the Manti museum created by Roth's widow Ilene, at 404 E. 300 North, from noon-9 p.m. on Thursday; and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on May 13 and 14.
There will be musical performances by the bands Kindred Spirits, All That Jazz and Plan B, along with a display of show cars. Airbrushers and pinstripers will also be on hand to demonstrate their techniques. A car parade will go down Main Street from 7-8 p.m. on May 13. On Saturday, a Dutch-oven dinner will be held in Roth's home. Videos and slides of Ed Roth's life will be shown each evening.
