Timetable for commuter rail project

The timetable for construction of an estimated $500 million commuter rail network between Salt Lake City and Weber County:

May 2005 — Federal "record of decision" granted, allowing project to proceed.

May or June 2005 — UTA to begin purchasing rights-of-way from cities and private property owners.

Early summer 2005 — Utility work to begin.

Summer 2005 — Construction expected to begin.

Fall 2005 — Earliest UTA could sign a full-funding grantagreement with Federal Transit Administration guaranteeing federal financing of the project.

Spring 2008 — Construction of the 44-mile system to be completed.
