Three students have been nominated by the Utah Council of Student Body Presidents to become the next student representative on the State Board of Regents, which oversees the state's public higher education system.
Utah System of Higher Education officials announced this week that Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will make the final appointment. The new student regent will serve a one-year term, beginning July 1.
The three student nominees are: Joseph J. Barnard (Utah State University), Gabriela Bradford (University of Utah) and Happiness Anne Peterson (Utah Valley State College).
The Utah Student Association also selected the following student leaders to a one-year term for the association: President Ali Hasnain (U.), Executive Vice President Ryan Starks (Weber State University) and Legislative Vice President Chris Wharton (Westminster College).
