DALLAS (AP) Dallas Mavericks forward Keith Van Horn has a second-degree left ankle sprain and is expected to miss about two weeks of the NBA playoffs.
An MRI on Monday confirmed the previous diagnosis of a sprain, meaning he's likely to sit out the remainder of the series against Houston and may miss the start of a second-round series.
Van Horn injured his ankle Thursday night in Game 3 after he tangled with Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo for a rebound and landed awkwardly. He sat out Game 4.
Van Horn averaged 7.3 points and two rebounds in the series against Houston, significantly down from his averages of 12.2 points and 4.4 rebounds since coming to Dallas in a trade from Milwaukee on Feb. 24.
The series was tied at two games apiece heading into Game 5 on Monday night.
