A $1.4 million tax increase would:

• Raise taxes on a $150,000 home by $9.45 and a $1 million business by $114.61 annually.

• Fund 15 more police officers and two additional support staffers in the police department.

• Come on the heels of last year's property tax increases by the Salt Lake City School District, the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District and the Salt Lake City Library System.

• Keep Salt Lake City with the highest property tax rate among Wasatch Front cities. The city of West Jordan has the second highest property tax rate in Salt Lake County — less than half the rate of Utah's capital.
