Wild move: Led by U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett, Utah officials have agreed to propose legislation that would protect lands around Zion National Park, a breakthrough for Utah.
What it would do: The proposal would protect alpine meadows north of the park and desert lowlands to the south, with permanent protection from logging, oil-and-gas drilling, mining, road-building and motor vehicles.
