Stormy weather

Northern Utah residents are mopping up after rainstorms drenched the area from the Idaho border to Utah County on Thursday. One of the hardest hit areas was Brigham City. As many as seven homes were damaged in floods. City officials declared a state of emergency, but by late in the day they were getting the upper hand.

About 1,000 people, including city and county workers and volunteers, filled and placed 20,000 sandbags in areas of Brigham City to prevent flooding after heavy rains fell in the region on Thursday.
