The Little Bear River near Paradise is expected to rise to near 11 feet on Thursday, and the Logan River is forecast to reach the limits of its banks Thursday, causing localized flooding.

The Utah Department of Public Safety has staff members in Box Elder and Cache counties monitoring the situation.

The National Weather Service also had reports of flooding in agricultural areas in Morgan Valley and low-lying areas in Cache Valley.

Heavy rains flooded streets and caused minor flooding in two basements Wednesday night about 30 miles south of Salt Lake, in Cedar Fort, volunteer fire chief Mike Penovich said.

Dunn said the rain should taper off late Thursday, but not before dropping about another inch in areas north of Ogden. In the higher elevations, that precipitation is expected to turn to snow.

A winter storm already was slamming neighboring Wyoming, where Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie was closed Thursday morning and travel from Laramie to the Nebraska line was not advised.
