LOGAN Nate Bendall, a first-team all-state selection this past season at Skyline High School in Salt Lake City, will continue his basketball career at Utah State, it was announced by head coach Stew Morrill on Monday.
Bendall, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound post player, averaged nearly 18 points and nine rebounds as a senior as he led Skyline High School to an 18-5 record and the semifinals of the 5A state tournament for the first time since the 1980s.
"We are very excited about adding Nate Bendall to the Aggie family," Morrill said. "Nate Has great hands which I've always believed is a needed attribute for a big guy's development. His upside is tremendous and his best basketball is ahead of him.
"Nate also is a high-character individual which has been so important in our program. His enthusiasm and determination will treat him and us very well both on and off the court," added Morrill.
Bendall earned second-team all-state honors following his junior season when he averaged almost 14 points and five rebounds per game.
"I'm excited to be a part of Stew Morrill's program and I know he will improve my game," said Bendall. "Coach Morrill has taken Utah State to the NCAA tournament four of the last six years and I am just excited to be part of a great program."
