A man was charged in 3rd District Court Monday after a trail of his blood led police to his arrest.
The 19-year-old had allegedly stolen a Honda Civic from a residence near 700 N. 800 West Friday. Court documents state that he used the car in an "ongoing street race involving two cars" that night. Police later located the car, abandoned and missing the steering column.
The officer involved in the investigation discovered blood in the vicinity and used a bloodhound to follow a trail, which led straight to the man's apartment. Court documents state that the man was found inside, bleeding from a wound on his hand.
He is charged with one count of receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, a second-degree felony.
