A viewing will be held Sunday for Vicki Cottrell, former executive director of the Utah chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, who was killed Wednesday in a car crash.

The viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edgehill 1st Ward chapel, 1750 S. 1500 East, in Salt Lake City.

Another viewing will be Monday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the same place. The funeral will follow at noon.

Cottrell will then be buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 South.

Cottrell was headed to Logan to speak to a Family to Family group about advocacy when her sport-utility vehicle spun out of control on a slushy roadway and into traffic on U.S. Highway 89-91.

An SUV carrying two Utah State University employees hit her broadside.

Cottrell had worked for nonprofit NAMI Utah for more than 20 years and is remembered as a tireless advocate for the mentally ill.
