A woman accidentally ran over her 3-year-old niece Friday afternoon in Herriman.
The woman was leaving a relative's home, near 5700 W. 13400 South, when the child ran out of the house carrying a videotape to give to the woman. Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Winder said the woman didn't see the girl and backed over her.
He said the vehicle was a large SUV and that the accident happened at "very slow speed." The girl received injuries to her lower extremities, Winder said.
She was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center where she was in serious condition.
"It doesn't appear to be life threatening," Winder said.
