Utah's Division of Oil, Gas and Mining has approved Unico Inc.'s large-scale mining operations and reclamation plan for the Deer Trail Mine in Marysvale, Piute County. Unico is an Arizona company.
The approval gives the Deer Trail Mining Company LLC, Unico's wholly owned subsidiary, the ability to expand its existing small mining project to a large mining operation and execute its long-term plan at the Deer Trail Mine.
Unico said mining will be done underground except for the processing of the dumps from the upper Deer Trail Mine area.
Ores will be transported to the mill site, approximately three-fourths of a mile east of the mine, where they will be crushed and processed. The final concentrates will be bagged and shipped to be custom-smelted by outside sources.
