I am a 20-year-old college student who in no way is qualified to critique a writer's piece, but Jerry Johnston's column on the film "Sin City" (April 16) was the worst. Everything from "No minister or LDS bishop in his right mind would ever recommend it" to "Manson recoiled and fled like a vampire." These filmmakers and musicians are trying to go for an image. I saw "Sin City." I didn't like it that much, but it is a dark film noir piece done to the fullest and eye candy to the max. Has Johnston ever even listened to Marilyn Manson? He is a great musician.
Johnston makes assumptions about people and artists which, in my opinion, is a sin. Art is there for entertainment, not to judge whether or not someone is good.
I hope, in the future, he thinks more about what he writes.
