A pair of Salt Lake-based charities said Thursday they will merge.
DreamWeaver Medical and Globus Relief will merge on May 1, incorporating DreamWeaver's medical equipment and surgical mission supply program into Globus Relief's primary function of gathering, processing and distributing medical supplies and other humanitarian aid.
Last year, Globus Relief distributed $22.6 million in consumable or "soft" medical goods and other humanitarian supplies, with $9.6 million going to Utah-based charities. DreamWeaver distributed $2.5 million in surgical supplies and medical equipment in 2004.
After the merger, the surviving company will operate with 19 employees from Globus Relief's 100,000-square-foot warehouse at 1775 W. 1500 South.
