Douglas Sequeira scored on a header 28 seconds into injury time, rallying CD Chivas USA to a 3-3 tie with the San Jose Earthquake on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
Trailing 3-2 after San Jose's Brian Ching headed in Brad Davis' free kick in the 79th minute, Sequeira headed Jesus Ochoa's free kick past Pat Onstad for expansion Chivas USA.
Davis finished with one goal and two assists for San Jose.
Chivas USA opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when Thiago Martins stopped a cross from defender Orlando Perez and scored past Onstad.
San Jose, which settled for a tie for the second straight game, tied the score at 1-all seconds before halftime when Davis fired a 19-yard free kick past Brad Guzan, after Perez had fouled Ching just outside the Chivas USA box.
Chivas USA moved ahead in the 73rd minute, when Hector Cuadros out-leaped Earthquakes defender Troy Dayak and headed in a cross by Ezra Hendrickson.
The red- and white-clad Chivas USA fans were still celebrating when Dayak tied the game at 2-all less than two minutes later, heading in Davis' free kick from a difficult angle near the Chivas USA endline.
REVOLUTION 3, CREW 0: At Foxboro, Mass., New England snapped Columbus' 19-game regular-season unbeaten streak, scoring twice in a four-minute span of the second half.
The Revolution (1-0-1) took the lead in the 63rd minute when Clint Dempsey headed in a cross by Jay Heaps from the left wing.
Pat Noonan nudged a loose ball past Crew goalkeeper Jon Busch in the 82nd minute to make it 2-0. Four minutes later, Andy Dorman took a cross from Taylor Twellman on the left and beat Busch with a short shot.
The Crew (1-1) had their best chances in the second half. Ante Razov put a short shot on keeper Matt Reis in the 57th minute and Reis stopped Edson Buddle's header in the 68th minute.
UNITED 1, FIRE 1: At Washington, D.C. United showed off the MLS Cup to their fans, then went out and tied the Chicago Fire in their home opener. Defender Mike Petke scored for United (1-0-1) in the 40th minute, and rookie forward Chris Rolfe tied it for the Fire (0-1-1) in the 50th with his first MLS goal.
Chicago held on despite using second-year goalkeeper Matt Pickens in the second half. Starter Zach Thornton left at the break with a strained muscle in his side.
Before the game, D.C. United celebrated their 2004 MLS title, No. 4 since the league began in 1996. With Mayor Anthony A. Williams watching, captain Jaime Moreno trotted onto the field carrying the trophy.
