• The Visual Art Institute, 1838 S. 1500 E., will host an open house and art exhibit to honor this year's Visual Arts Sterling Scholar contest winners on Saturday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All the winning students were also students of the VAI.

• The Intermountain Society of Artists will host Lester Lee at its monthly meeting Tuesday evening at 7 at the Riverton Art Museum, 1640 W. 13200 South. The event is free and open to the public.

• Prescott Muir, architect, and Pennsylvania artist Robert Fisher will discuss the role and impact of public art Wednesday evening at 7 in the Creer Auditorium of the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple. The event is free and open to the public.

• Utah State University will host guest lecturer George Hargreaves, celebrated landscape design architect, Thursday morning at 8:30 in the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, and again at 3 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center auditorium. • The Kimball Art Center announces a call for entries for its art auction, which will be held in conjunction with the 2005 Annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival.
