"(Huntsman's) kind of indicated the special session was for non-controversial items that there was agreement on," he said. "I'm not sure that the Salt Palace meets those requirements."

The governor will meet with city and county leaders today to see if some arrangement can be made.

"Hopefully we'll be able to come up with something tomorrow" with Huntsman, County Councilman Michael Jensen said. "We've got to come up with that money somewhere."

State, county and city leaders decided the convention center needed to be expanded to keep the lucrative, semi-annual Outdoor Retailer conventions in Salt Lake City. The state, however, has refused to contribute financially to the project. City leaders have argued the state gets the largest tax windfall from the conventions and therefore should contribute to expansion costs.
