The Utah Transit Authority is increasing the capacity and service of TRAX today and Sunday to help prevent increased traffic and parking congestion for general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this weekend.
The weekend routinely brings large crowds to downtown Salt Lake City, but UTA is encouraging the public to avoid the congestion and use public transportation instead.
Additional vehicles will be in service today on the Sandy to Salt Lake City line. From the Sandy Civic Center Station, two additional trains heading north will depart at 12:36 p.m. and 4:36 p.m., ending at the City Center Station.
TRAX will operate earlier than usual Sunday. On the Sandy to Salt Lake City line, the first northbound train will leave the Sandy Civic Center Station at 7:49 a.m. Additional trains will depart at 7:59, 8:09, 8:19 and 8:29 a.m. On the University line, the first westbound train will leave the University Medical Center Station at 10:08 a.m.
TRAX service will run every 20 minutes, as scheduled throughout the day. The City Center and Temple Square Stations provide the closest access to the Conference Center.
