3 scenarios for selecting justices

A Brigham Young University professor has written a book that proposes U.S. Supreme Court justices be elected by the American people. Here are his three scenarios:

President nominates three candidates and Senate holds hearings. Voters then elect one of the three.

President nominates one candidate and Senate confirms. Then voters choose whether to ratify the nominee.

President nominates one candidate who is placed on the court if 60 percent of Senate confirms. If not, election held for voters to ratify or reject nominee.
