ContentWatch chief will chair UITA

At members meeting, Utah tech association also names 6 trustees

Jack Sunderlage, chief executive officer of Salt Lake-based ContentWatch, was named chairman of the Utah Information Technology Association at UITA's annual members meeting Thursday.

Sunderlage succeeds Greg Butterfield, president and CEO of Altiris, who served as chairman in 2003 and 2004.

"In addition to his role as the CEO of a strong and progressive Utah company, Jack has played and will continue to play an integral role in the advancement of critical high tech and community legislation in our state," Richard Nelson, UITA president, said in a prepared statement. "We are confident that UITA will continue to benefit tremendously from the work and talents Jack Sunderlage brings."

ContentWatch is a provider of Internet filter and protection tools.

Also at Thursday's meeting, UITA named six new trustees: Ron Beck, AT&T; Jack Brittain, University of Utah Technology Venture Development; Jeff Edwards, Economic Development Corp. of Utah; Scott Hinton, Utah State University College of Engineering; Mike Levinthal, Thomas Weisel Venture Partners; and Chris Roybal, senior adviser to Utah Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. for economic development.

The association recognized three Utah technology executives for their contributions to the industry. Tom Ngo, chief technology officer of Draper-based NextPage, was named Utah CTO of the Year. Greg Butterfield was named Utah CEO of the Year and Will West, CEO of Control4 Technologies, was named UITA's Trustee of the Year.

Utah Rep. David Clark, R-Santa Clara, was named legislator of the year.
