Advocacy groups oppose budget cuts

The Disabled Rights Action Committee has joined other local advocacy groups in a protest over proposed federal budget cuts they say will hurt Utah's most vulnerable populations.

Thursday, the committee asked for explanations from Sens. Robert Bennett and Orrin Hatch, both R-Utah, on why they voted against a Senate amendment aiming to keep Medicaid whole. The amendment did pass, despite the Utah delegation's vote.

Neither Bennett nor Hatch provided any new explanations.
