Huntsman names members of court nominating panel

Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. named his multipartisan appointments Monday to the Appellate Court Nominating Commission.

The commission, composed of eight members, is charged with reviewing applications for candidates to the Utah Court of Appeals. The commission is expected to meet soon to recommend to Huntsman a replacement for appellate Judge Norman Jackson, who will retire in August.

The new appointees are Republicans John Adams, David Bradford and Mona Given, Democrats Jody Burnett, Jani Iwamoto and Jos Reid, and Von Keetch, an independent.

The eighth member, by law, is the chief justice of the Utah Supreme Court, Christine Durham.
