FORT DUCHESNE, Uintah County Ute Tribe voters will go to the polls Tuesday to narrow down the list of candidates for the tribe's governing Business Committee.
Incumbent Business Committee members Elliot Eagle Chief Ridley, White River Band; Fabian Jenks, Uintah Band; and Roland McCook Sr., the Uncompahgre Band; all are running for re-election. They are among 44 people who were nominated late last month for three open seats on the Business Committee.
However, not all of those nominated end up with their names on the primary election ballot. Some nominees requested that their names be withdrawn, others were found to be ineligible to run for elected office.
The top two vote-getters from each band will face each other in the general election April 12. Polling places for both the primary and the general election will be Fort Duchesne, Randlette, Myton and Whiterocks.
