Franken dallies in Hannity country

He compared Wolfowitz to one of the Three Stooges and said the deputy U.S. Secretary of Defense is not prepared to lead the World Bank, a development and anti-poverty organization.

"There's $8.8 billion missing from the Coalition Provisional Authority, that's how good this guy is with money," Franken said.

In the second hour of the show, Anderson joined Franken. When Anderson mentioned Salt Lake's drug problem, Franken adopted the voice of Stuart Smalley, his character from "Saturday Night Live," and said:

"I didn't know there was even heroin use in Utah. I didn't even think they used caffeine. Maybe they haven't built up a tolerance."

Anderson criticized the Bush administration's plans to decrease the amount of money that goes to the Community Development Block Grant program, which has been used in Salt Lake to build housing and infrastructure in poor areas.

"It's been absolutely crucial in Salt Lake City," he said. "It would have devastating effects on millions of people in this country. We shouldn't stand for it."

Franken's stop at Sundance was part of a weeklong tour to promote his show.

Earlier stops included Austin, Texas, and Albuquerque, N.M.

Franken's show isn't broadcast in Utah. Not yet, anyway.

"He said he's going to try to push to get his show here," Zinn said. "I don't know how well it would do, but I would listen."
