Boozer misses Utah's trip to Detroit

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Jazz starting power forward Carlos Boozer did not travel with the team to Detroit on Sunday and may miss his much-awaited return to Cleveland on Tuesday night.

Boozer has been in Los Angeles to seek a second opinion on his strained right foot and to undergo a second set of CT Scan and MRI exams.

Boozer has been out since injuring his foot Feb. 14 in Phoenix, and it remains to be seen when he will return.

The Jazz probably will not know more until Monday at the earliest, basketball operations senior vice president Kevin O'Connor said Saturday night.

In a worst-case scenario relative to the Jazz's current five-game road trip, Boozer may not travel at all. He could, however, join the team mid-trip. Even if he makes it to Cleveland, though, it would seem unlikely Boozer plays without a couple full practices under his belt — meaning he would miss the game against the Cavaliers.

Nothing, however, is certain.

"I don't want to presume anything," O'Connor said.

Boozer made a controversial departure from Cleveland for Utah as a restricted free agent, and there has been rampant speculation he would not be treated kindly by Cavs fans upon his return.

Meanwhile, Jazz shooting guard Gordan Giricek, who did not play Friday vs. Memphis because of a hamstring strain, is questionable for today's game vs. Detroit.
