Who will be Utah's next recording star? Highway Records, in conjunction with ABC 4's "Good Things Utah," Brigham Young University Radio and Schooled Magazine, has launched Utah's Next, a statewide talent search to find out.

Musicians interested in a chance to win a four-song demo album produced by Highway Records should submit a five-minute video or DVD. Deadline for applications is Friday, March 18.

Twenty-five quarter-finalists will be selected to perform in a closed audition for experts and judges. Ten semi-finalists will then perform in a public concert where audience-member voting will be part of the performance rating. Three finalists will perform on "Good Things Utah" April 6-8. The winner will be announced April 12.

Utah's Next is open to all musicians over the age of 16, including singers, bands and instrumentalists of all genres and styles. Performers are encouraged to present original work, although it is not required.

Send submissions to Highway Records, Attention Utah's Next, 40 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
