Utah Valley State closes out its season today at 5 p.m. MST against fellow Division I Independent IPFW (7-21) in Fort Wayne, Ind. The game can be heard live on 960 AM KOVO.
The Wolverines (15-12) are coming off a 54-50 win at Longwood on Wednesday. Sylvester Allison had a career-high 16 points in the win. The win secured a winning season for the Wolverines in their first year with a full Division I schedule.
"It's a terrific accomplishment with one game to play," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said.
The Wolverines are 8-1 against independent schools this season. Their only loss is at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Utah Valley has also recorded wins over three Big Sky schools (Montana State, Idaho State, Weber State) and one WAC school (Boise State).
Today is the final game for Wolverine guard Ronnie Price. Price is third in the nation in scoring at 24.3 points a game. He has scored in double figures in 33 straight games.
David Heck is second on the team in scoring at 9.1 points a game, and Pierre Thomas is third at nine points a game.
David Simon's 16.5 points and 6.8 rebounds a game lead IPFW. It has won three of its last five games. It also beat Utah State back in December.
"They are playing with renewed life and energy," Hunsaker said. "They will play their lives out. We'll have our hands full."
